Los Altos

Welcome to Los Altos

Quaint suburban city at the northern end of Silicon Valley

Once an agricultural nirvana that was known for its apricot orchards, Los Altos has since evolved into the high-tech epicenter of today’s silicon valley. The city’s story began in 1906, when Paul Shoup and friends bought 150 acres of land that was soon after dubbed Los Altos. A monumental piece of the city’s history, the Los Altos depot train stop was completed in 1913 and went on to harbor decades of memories for those who departed from or stopped here on their journey along the Southern Pacific Railroad. The Los Altos depot extended a place for its travelers to embrace their loved ones as they said goodbye, it provided a short commute for those to go to San Francisco and it also served as a way for growers to ship out their summer apricot harvest. It was in the 50s that expansive growth was seen in the population and the city was named eleventh in Santa Clara County.

Fast forward to 1976 to a monumental event that resonates with a majority of people- Steve Jobs built the first 100 Apple computers in the garage of his parents home in Los Altos. Since then, the suburban city has become a desirable place for those making moves in the tech industry to call home.

Today, Los Altos is an affluent neighborhood offering lavish homes nestled amongst uninterrupted mature trees and surrounded by an ample amount of parks. Most areas of Los Altos emulate serenity and peace, serving as a covetable location for families to settle. Known for its acclaimed school system, the city takes pride in nurturing the intellect of its children.  Although Downtown remains quaint, a more vibrant atmosphere perpetually transpires as locals frequent the small businesses that span a 6 block radius. Downtown Los Altos has been said to exhibit a village-like atmosphere that offers its community shops and services to encompass needs of all kinds. Los Altos’ historical eminence and its charming characteristics make it a well sought after location for families and retirees to dwell.
